Kate Riddell
Kate has lived in the Kinglake Ranges for 6 years. She is a married, full time mum to two young children, a part-time teacher and Mental Health First Aid instructor. Kate is passionate about the well being of her community. She is an emergency services volunteer in the Kinglake Community Emergency Response Team (volunteer ambulance service), plays for the local tennis club, as well as being a founding member of the Murrindindi Toy Library and Kinglake Ranges Representative Group.
Kate, along with other members of CERT received an award by the Victorian Health Minister for their ongoing efforts during and after the fire, servicing those in need.
Kate has completed extensive studies -BA (Outdoor Ed.), Dip Ed (Secondary), Grad. Dip. (Social Ecology), M. App. Sci (Social Ecology)- which have fuelled her passion for place, gender, communities and organisational change.
Jemima Richards
Jemima aged 37 moved to Kinglake in 2007 with her partner David, who 2 years later became her husband after they married on their property known as Lucky Views. David's family have been in Kinglake for over 100 years as they were one of the orginal pioneering families within the Kinglake Ranges.
Jemima's Ivanhoe based beauty and well being business Sync.detoxify.nourish.regenerate, has seen her care for people for 15 years. Her combined business experience allowed the smooth operation of the only private relief center in Kinglake which serviced hundreds people a day. With the help her supportive parents, sisters, friends and clients along with of so many from all over the country, 305 Private Relief Centre provided immediate hope. Jemima is forever postitive and truly trusts and believes in the true Aussie Spirit of Mateship tha has been displayed since Black Saturday.
Jemima was nominated for the Pride Medal of Australia in March 2009 for her service to the community and was recently nominated for the Victorian Honour Roll of Women for 2010.
Arwyn Taylor
Arwyn aged 34 has lived within the Kinglake Ranges for 5 years. She is married and mum to her two foster children.
From the time the Temporay Accomodation Village in Kinglake was operational, Arwyn has been the full time manager of the site with the job almost being 24/7. Arwyn and her family also live within the village to have a greater understanding of the needs of those who are in the process of rebuilding.Her career has seen her work within the building industry as a qualifed carpenter, and these skills and her building knowlege have added to her capacity to oversee the Village operation. Her calm, reasonable and quiet but firm demonor allows her to deal with the vast issues that arise within the village and also throughout the community. Arwyn is someone who takes it all in and is known as the quiet achiever. Arwyn's passion for striving to be the best she can, is inspiring.
Arwyn Taylor resigned from the organisation in September, 2010 to pursue different paths. We acknowledge her contribution to the development of Firefoxes and wish her all the best for her future endeavours.
